Directions To The Ground
From Kent, Essex, Southcoast or outer London.
Pick up the M25 motorway until either junction 21 for the M1 motorway or junction 23 for the A1 (M) whichever is more convenient or preferred. Then, follow separate directions below for selected route.
M1 route (especially from central London). Also from Milton Keynes, Northampton and the North.
Take the M1 motorway until Junction 12, which is signposted Woburn. From London, turn right at the top of the slip road, (from the North turn left). Proceed on the A5120 for approximately 1 ˝ miles and then take the 2nd turning on the right, which is signposted Harlington and Barton. Follow this road through the small villages of Harlington and Sharpenhoe and after approximately 4 miles you will reach Barton. Proceed past the old entrance to the ground (now pedestrian access only) until you reach the mini roundabout at the bottom of the road. Turn right and proceed approximately 400 yards until you see an area of playing fields on the right. Turn right into the concrete driveway adjacent to these fields and follow round into the club’s car park.
A1 (M) route. Also from Hitchin, Stevenage, Letchworth etc.
From the M25 junction at South Mimms take the A1 (M) until the 2nd A602 junction which is signposted Hitchin. Leave the Motorway onto slip road, and at the roundabout at the bottom, take the 1st exit, which is signposted Hitchin (A602). Continue on this road, (the Little Wymondley by-pass) until you enter Hitchin. Then follow the signs for the A505 to Luton until you reach a mini roundabout near a garage. Take the right fork (3rd exit) which is signposted B655 to Barton-Le-Clay. Follow this road for 5 miles through the villages of Pegsdon and Hexton until you reach Barton. Follow the road round until you reach a “t” junction which is the old A6 road. Turn left here and after 150 yards turn right into a concrete driveway adjacent to some playing fields. Follow this round into the club’s car park.
From Luton and Dunstable. Also Aylesbury and Leighton buzzard.
Travel along the A6 road heading northwards towards Bedford and proceed along this road until you reach the Barton cutting. Mid-way down the cutting take the slip road marked B655 to Barton. Follow this road until you reach some playing fields on the left. Before you reach the 1st house on the left, turn left into the concrete driveway which is adjacent to these fields and follow the drive round into the club’s car park. As an alternative from Dunstable (the end of Leighton Buzzard by-pass from Aylesbury) you can travel through Houghton Regis, Sundon and Streatley until you meet the A6 at the top of the cutting then follow the middle part of above directions.
From Bedford and North Bedfordshire.
Pick up at the A6 road towards Luton and carry on along the Elstow and Wilstead by-passes then through the village of Clophill and along the Silsoe by-pass. As you enter Barton (approximately 14 miles from Bedford) you will come to a roundabout. Take the 2nd exit marked Barton-Le-clay. Cross over the next mini roundabout and proceed through the middle of the village as if you were re-joining the old A6 road to Luton. Just past the last house on the right (opposite the village memorial) you will see an area of playing fields with a concrete driveway adjacent to them. Turn right into this driveway and follow it round into the club’s car park.
