Barton came out with a refreshing attitude and went straight for the jugular and in the fourth minute a glancing header from Russell Bull tested Michael Oliver in the Chalfont goal. Further pressure from the home side saw them take the lead in the 12^th minute a looping header from David Parkinson. The rest of the half was evenly contested with both sides cancelling each other out.

The second period had the home side showing a renewed spirit and they again pressured the visitors goal.  In the sixty first minute, David Parkinson went on a mazy run which was ended by a late tackle in the box.  The referee then consulted his assistant and pointed to the spot.  Bobby Dance elected to take it and scored with ease.  Two minutes later an opportunist effort from Russell Bull increased the lead. Buoyed by these efforts, Barton were now dominating proceedings and it was no surprise when the enterprising Tommy Hull added a fourth in the seventy sixth minute.  A comprehensive victory for Barton consolidating their mid-table position
